Cost per wear is calculated using the formula: (Initial Purchase Price - Projected Secondary Market Resale Value) divided by (Years of Active Ownership multiplied by Annual Wear Frequency). For example, an iconic handbag acquired for $10,000, worn 48 times per year over 5 years, and resold for $7,500 yields a net cost per wear of only $10.41.
